The formula
Rework rate = (Units reworked ÷ Units produced) × 100
- R — Units reworked
- (count). Units needing rework, repair, retest or reinspection.
- P — Units produced
- (count). Units produced in the same period.
Units: Counts in; percentage out.
What kind of calculation this is
Deterministic formula. The same inputs always give the same answer. The maths is fixed and does not depend on judgement.

Limitations
- Counting each rework event rather than each unit reworked will overstate the rate; the calculator cannot detect which was counted.
- Arithmetic over the counts entered — it cannot tell whether the inspection behind them was complete or consistent.
